Strengthening the knowledge base and capacity to support the transformation of Irrigation Boards to Water User Associations
Published: 1 September 2022
Report No: WRC report no. 3022/1/22
Abstract
There have been several challenges experienced in the transformation of Irrigation Boards to Water User Associations. Among others, these challenges have been exacerbated by several factors, such as the slow pace of land, agrarian and water allocation reforms, and the difficulties of achieving the required representativeness on the management committees of Water User Associations. A completed Water Research Commission (WRC) project has consolidated and expanded the knowledge base on the transformation of Irrigation Boards to Water User Associations with the aim of facilitating the inclusion of this knowledge in current and future transformation processes.
